A small marketing practice
Franklin, Tennessee

Most marketing is loud.
Better marketing listens.

Franklin Marketing is a small practice that does — and teaches — better marketing for businesses that care about the people they serve. We start by understanding your market, your community, your customers. We call it customer-ing.
Trusted by small business founders, mission-driven organizations, community partners, and B2B teams

T.J. is a strategic marketing executive who resists quick fixes. He did the customer and stakeholder work, then helped us rebrand and become more consistent in everything we said — leading to the most unit sales in company history.

Teach as much as we do

We do better marketing. We teach it too.

The best way to understand how we think is to learn something from us before you ever hire us. We teach what we know — pricing, customer-ing, brand foundations, and getting found in the age of AI — at workshops and wherever the small-business community gathers.

What we do.

Four ways to work together. Most begin with a focused first engagement — then grow into whatever the business actually needs.

How we work.

Marketing isn't a department — it's leadership applied to the customer relationship. Three convictions shape how we practice it.
01

Customer-ing first.

We coined the word because marketing has lost its real meaning. Customer-ing means starting with the people you serve — listening before building, and letting what you learn shape everything else.
02

We teach as much as we do.

Good marketing isn't a black box and you don't need a guru. We explain the why, hand you the tools, and leave you more capable than we found you — whether you hire us again or not.
03

We lead by example.

We can't help you lead your customers if we don't live what we teach. So we work in the open, teach freely, and compete by friendship — not hacks, not attacks. Some of our closest friends are former competitors.

T.J. led the marketing for a primary competitor of mine. He worked hard at understanding his competition and the markets he serves. His ability to engage people, through marketing ideas and industry associations is second to none. As a competitor sharing this ... should say enough.

His attention to detail is second to none. If T.J. committed anything to our team, we knew we could rely on him to get the task done.

Honestly —

We're not for everyone.

If you're after a quick win, a cheap trick, or a way to shout louder than the competition, we're not your people. We work best with owners who care about the people they serve, who are ready for real change, and who see marketing as something you do with your customers — not at them. If that's you — you're in the right place.

Let's start with a conversation.

Tell us about your business and the people you serve. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help — and where we'd start.
